How to Propose - Southern California | Los Angeles Wedding Photography

Welcome back!

It’s a new year and we’re excited to bring more exciting material to our soon to be brides! Speaking of which, with the holiday season behind us, we can’t help but think of all the lovely couples who were recently engaged. So if you are reading this and are sporting a flashy new ring, then allow us to extend our congratulations to you two, and we are excited to be part of the fun to come.

Wait? There wasn’t a proposal? No worries! Luckily, February is just around the corner and Valentine’s Day serves an even more romantic and intimate opportunity for couples to announce that they’ll be tying the knot. Of course, like everything else, it’ll take time to plan things out, but if you’re ready to propose, use this opportunity to make this proposal a little special.

Almost every couple wants to have a memorable marriage proposal, and as we mentioned before in our past article, Midnight Proposal, that there are a lot of ideas and plenty of videos on YouTube of people doing just that. However, not everyone has the same kind of ease of thinking of a way to ask those 4 little words, so here are some questions and things to consider…

1. Where would be an ideal place?
Aside from the perfect ring, location is the next big thing. Is there a place that you two love to go? Is there a place that holds special meaning? It can be anything from he place where you had your first date, a favorite whole in the wall restaurant, or a particular destination spot that they really love.

2. When are you going to ask?
As mentioned above, you have Valentine’s Day coming up and indeed all holidays to consider. But aside from those options, there are other occasions you can consider: birthday, graduations, family reunions, vacation trips, anniversaries, etc. The idea is to maintain focus on them and their likes.

3. Who do you want to be there?
Do you want this to be an intimate proposal or would you not mind a crowd? If your beloved is painfully shy, you don’t want to set them up in a public display and asking them a very intimate question like marriage. If you are in a public space, be prepared for happy strangers checking you two out. You just don’t want to set up the possibility of them freezing up or goodness forbid, them rejecting out of nervousness. But if they are the opposite, then perhaps inviting friends and family to the event could be a wonderful surprise.

4. How are you going to pull it off?
Hopefully after reading the considerations above, you’re already thinking of some ways of popping the question. But is your plan going to need coordination? Do you need help from friends and family? And if you’re not sure about how you’re going to propose, hold off from telling too many people of your upcoming plan. You don’t want them to start hearing rumors.

Hopefully we have given you a little more clarity as to how to pop the question! We would love to hear how it all goes and hope that you document the big moment with pictures. Of course, we are available for marriage proposals, and would love to be a part of the love from the very beginning!

Have an amazing day, and remember to breathe.
